  • Roleplay Description: December 21, 2012 is the day the Modification began. A violent plague ripped through humanity like butter. In two weeks the global population had been cut in half. Historians compared it to the black plague, but worse. When all hope seemed lost for modern civilization a single dose cure emerged out of the small pharmaceutical company 'Pharmatosis'. Demand for the drug was through the roof and Pharmatosis instantly became a monopoly. Over the next two years the tattered scraps of humanity began rebuilding. Out of the rubble came rumors and legends of mutant children with special abilities. On January 1, 2013 Phillip DelaRose the CEO of Pharmatosis, announced that he was an Elf.

    With his announcement came the unveiling of many other supernatural races that had been in hiding for centuries. Werewolves, witches, demons, you name it. After two reeling years of violence and racism a peace treaty was signed with the 'COSF'(Committee Of Supernatural Folk) in the United States and most of the violence stopped. However the racism didn't quit as easily. Some states didn't agree to the treaty and began banning and executing magical beings, stating that they had no place in human society. This issue remains unresolved.

    Humanity's population was the worst it had ever been, estimated to be in the mid to high millions. The supernaturals had also taken a hit, though much less severe. People were curious and intrigued by these newcomers and the newcomers were glad to be out of hiding. Cultures quickly integrated and well, the population began to rise again. Of course there were the states where non-magical peoples were not allowed, but those were few.

    Our roleplay begins the exact anniversary of the Modification, twenty years later.

The current season is Late Spring - Early Summer. From April 20 - June 20

HUMANITY

Humans : Humans have a highly developed brain, capable of abstract reasoning, language, introspection, and problem solving. This mental capability, combined with an erect body carriage that frees the hands for manipulating objects, has allowed humans to make far greater use of tools than any other living species on Earth. Other higher-level thought processes of humans, such as self-awareness, rationality, and sapience, are considered to be defining features of what constitutes a "person".

Evolved Humans : Thats what the government calls them anyways. Born with incredible and sometimes unfathomable 'abilities' these children are immediately snatched up by the government as soon as they are exposed or 'discovered'.

Witches : Witches only come in one gender, female. Born with an extra part of their brain Witches operate on a higher level than normal Humans do. Knowledge passed down from generations has taught the Witches to be able to make a conscious connection with Earth's natural power. They call it the Source. Speculation has arisen that Witches are responsible for the term 'Mother Nature'. Potions are no more than herbal remedies until they are mixed with Source energy. Afterwards they can do many things. The Witches were at ease settling into society and have been the most open about their society and their culture.

Warlocks : Warlocks are all male. Legends have blown warlocks powers way out of proportion, and many see them as just male Witches. This is very wrong though. Some time ago, around the 1600s, the Witches decided to mix and mate with humans. The result was a watered down male Witch. As the first generation of Warlocks grew up and started exploring their powers, the Witches collectively decided that creating them was a bad idea. They kidnapped them all and with the enlisted help of demons, made them their immortal servants. Warlocks are few and very rare, and as such all that is known about them is what the Witches choose to share.

Non-Humans

Elves : Elves are much like Humans. Elven lore says that as man evolved it split into two groups. Those who honored their roots and helped the planet thrive, and those who chose to further themselves at the cost of the planet and its other inhabitants. They have no special powers, or pointy ears, however they are all a bit taller than the average Human. Their written history dates back further than Humanity's and as such there are many Historians interested in Elven culture.

Demons : Demons are almost always thought of as malevolent. The Demons claim this is not true, that they will never tell a lie, never kill a man unless it is an order, and never intend sabotage unless required of them. Little is known about them.

Sorcerers : Sorcerers are most commonly referred to as Demon Callers. They are supposedly another offshoot of Humanity that has learned to call Demons over from their native realm. Sorcerers are only talked about in Elven history books.

Werewolves : A disease that cropped up in the 1700's, lycanthropy(a cross between man and wolf) was widely discarded for rubbish when it first arose. Every cycle of the moon those affected would seem to discard their own skin, proceeding to take the form of a completely malevolent half man half wolf. It was not always so, but it is now accepted that the only way one may catch the disease of the Werewolf is by being bitten by one. The bite does not have to happen during the full moon. Werewolf clans are few and widespread to avoid violent and bloody territorial disputes.

Vampires : Immortal, malevolent, and unable to come out during the day. There is no such thing as a living vampire(supposedly) and turning Humans has been illegal in Vampire society for centuries. A vampire has dead and cold skin, becoming paler with age. They possess enhanced speed, strength, and charisma. They feed on the blood of Humans and say that the younger the human, the sweeter the blood. Vampires will die of thirst if they do not feed for over a month. After being fed on a Human will enter a trance like state where it will let the Vampire feed at any time; and it is said that the toxin in a Vampire's fangs causes some form of brain death. Vampires are considered outlaws and are not permitted among society.
